Farmers Market Delights!

‘Tis the season for fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers! During this time, I love visiting the NYC Union Square Farmers Market to check out the fresh produce & plants that the upstate farms are bringing to the city. Not only are you accessing the best produce in season, but you’re also ensured that it’s coming form a sustainable environment.

Get Guaranteed Fresh at Union Square Farmers Market

Before the NY weather gets too brisk, make your way over to Union Square, (17th Street and Broadway), for the Union Square Green Market!

This market houses some of the best of New York State’s freshest cheese, vegetables, fruits, honey, apple cider, maple syrup from over 140 local New York State farmers!

The Union Square Green Market is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8AM-6PM.

Aside from purchasing the freshest in food, beverages and plants with a decreased carbon footprint, try to catch some of the classes that are offered each morning. Check out the schedule below:

Every Monday: GrowNYC’s Textile Recycling, kitchen scrap collection for composting by LES Ecology Center and Greenmarket Education Station hosts school tours, cooking demonstrations, interactive displays, tastings and peer-to-peer programming.

Every Wednesday: Cooking demonstrations with local chefs, restaurants and Union Square Market Managers, FREE cooking advice from Josh Stokes of Grill-A-Chef (9am-12pm), kitchen scrap collection for composting by LES Ecology Center, and Greenmarket Education Station hosts school tours, cooking demonstrations, interactive displays, tastings and peer-to-peer programming.

Every Friday: Cooking demonstrations with Robin Puskas of the NY Kitchen Co, Wine tasting and pairings with NY Wine & Grape Foundation, kitchen scrap collection for composting by LES Ecology Center, and the Greenmarket Education Station hosts school tours, interactive displays, tastings and peer-to-peer programming.

Every Saturday: Cooking demonstrations with Natural Gourmet Institute, GrowNYC’s Textile Recycling and kitchen scrap collection for composting by LES Ecology Center

VH1 Save the Music – Bowling with Plain White T’s

If you’re in NYC, like to bowl, enjoy music and doing it all for a good cause, make your way to BOWLMOR in Union Square!

Bowlmor is hosting a Vh1 Save The Music party, which is an organization recognizing the importance of music education in New York public schools and preventing its demise.

The event starts NOW -9PM. With your ticket purchase, enjoy bowling, open bar, food and great music by the Plain White T’s when they perform!
